Our article, posted last week, argued that Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) will not spell the death of iSCSI, because the two technologies each have applications that are not available with the other technology. We then argued further that FCoE poses a greater threat to traditional Fibre Channel technology. You can read our article on FCoE, FC, and iSCSI here.

We were interested to see a post on The Register today that reaches a similar conclusion. Read The Register's latest news on FCoE here.

Secondly, as if the whole world was replete to bursting with all things FCoE, Netapp have announced the first native FCoE storage device. The announcement appeared on Storage Networking Europe today. Netapp storage device supports FCoE dircectly. This product joins the ever growing portfolio of FCoE components from vendors such as Cisco, Qlogic, Emulex, and Brocade.

Hardware should be available from November.
